The fabric is the product. Every other decision in garment production — cut, construction, finishing, branding — is secondary to the material the garment is made from. A poorly chosen fabric cannot be saved by exceptional manufacturing. The right fabric makes every other element of production easier.

Trade Istanbul Hub is now working with Turkish fabric manufacturers on a curated range of premium natural cotton fabrics and advanced technical constructions — specifically selected for brands and manufacturers who understand that the fabric decision is where product quality is determined.

Premium Natural Cotton — Why Turkish Cotton Is Different

Turkish cotton is among the finest in the world. The Aegean region's growing conditions — specific soil composition, climate, and irrigation practices — produce cotton with longer staple length, higher tensile strength, and superior softness compared to standard commodity cotton.

Pima Cotton (ELS — Extra Long Staple) — Pima cotton has fibre lengths of 35–40mm — significantly longer than standard upland cotton at 25–30mm. Longer fibres mean smoother fabric surface, greater strength, and superior resistance to pilling. Pima cotton garments feel noticeably softer against the skin and maintain that softness wash after wash. Used in premium t-shirts, underwear, children's clothing, and any application where skin contact quality matters.

Supima Cotton — The most rigorously controlled premium cotton designation in the world — every bale is traceable to certified American farms. Supima cotton is softer, stronger, and more colour-fast than standard cotton. Used in luxury casualwear, premium underwear, and high-end private label collections.

Technical Fabrics — The Fastest Growing Category

Waterproof & Water-Resistant Fabrics — Laminated constructions with TPU membrane bonding or PU coating with DWR finish. The TPU membrane laminate creates a genuinely waterproof barrier while maintaining fabric breathability. CE certified.

Anti-Allergenic Fabrics — Silver-ion treated constructions and bamboo-cotton blends with certified anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic properties. Silver-ion treatment inhibits bacterial growth on the fabric surface. OEKO-TEX certified.

Moisture Management & Anti-Sweat Fabrics — Engineered knit constructions using polyester microfibre channels, Coolmax integration, or treated cotton blends that actively move moisture away from the skin surface. OEKO-TEX certified.

UV Protection Fabrics — Tightly woven or knitted constructions rated UPF 30 to UPF 50+. Certified to EN 13758.

Knitted Fabric Constructions — What the Numbers Mean

Single Jersey (Kulirka) — Weight range 140–220 g/m². Soft, breathable, slightly stretchy. The standard fabric for t-shirts, polo shirts, and lightweight casualwear.

Double Jersey (Lacoste / Interlock) — Weight range 180–300 g/m². Smooth on both sides, more stable dimensionally, heavier than single jersey. Used for polo shirts, children's clothing, and sportswear where shape retention matters.

Three-Thread Fleece — Weight range 280–380 g/m². The construction behind hoodies, sweatshirts, and outerwear linings. Available in brushed and unbrushed versions.

Fabric density — measured in g/m² — is one of the most important variables in fabric pricing and end product quality. Higher density means more cotton per square metre and better product performance.

MOQ from 500 metres per article for standard constructions. Technical fabrics from 300 metres. Lead time 10–20 days. Europe 3–5 days road freight. USA 20–25 days sea.

Certifications: GOTS · OEKO-TEX Standard 100 · Bluesign · ISO 9001 · Supima certified options.
